 Branch Postmaster (BPM) 

The BPM is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the Branch Post Office and India Post Payments Bank-related operations as prescribed by the Department.

  • Operating applicable customer service facilities
  • Marketing and promotion of postal products and services
  • Performing combined ABPM duties when required

A selected BPM must arrange suitable accommodation for the Branch Post Office at their own cost and is required to reside in the post village where the Branch Office functions.

 Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) 

ABPM duties include:

 Selection Process – India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 

The selection of candidates will be based on a system-generated merit list.

The merit list will be prepared using marks obtained in the 10th Standard Secondary School Examination, with applicable conversion of grades/points into marks. The marks are aggregated into a percentage up to four decimal places for preparation of merit.

 Important Merit Rules 

If the marksheet contains marks, the marks obtained will be considered. Where only grades/points are available, the prescribed conversion methodology will be used by the system.
